‘the balance of abstract and reality’ seems more like a virtual dichotomy. fears and ideas of beauty are blatantly expressed in these works of asger carlsen. i find it challenging as valuable commentary on our body-conscious culture and that which we can’t get away from; our physical nature. the simple reduction of flesh and implication of lost identity is both arresting and intriguing, these contorted images prove that our visual sensibilities are still just as frail as our perceptions of normality.
